Legal
Privacy policy
Effective date: 3 November 2026. This is the public privacy policy for the Android app Lock n Learn, package com.locknlearn.app, published by Agentic AI Labs Ltd. The same facts are stored in the app and can be read with no internet connection.
Lock n Learn is a parental-control app. A parent or guardian installs it, chooses one entertainment app, and sets how long that app may be used. When the time runs out, that app is paused and a learning challenge is shown.
Data controller
The data controller is Agentic AI Labs Ltd (legal name AGENTIC AI LABS LTD), company number 17052322, a private company limited by shares registered in England and Wales and incorporated on 24 February 2026. Registered office: 20 Havelock Road, Hastings, East Sussex, England, TN34 1BP. Email: [email protected]. Website: https://agenticai-labs.ai/. This app does not send personal data to the controller. Questions about this policy go to that email.
Who this policy is about
The person who installs and configures Lock n Learn is a parent or guardian. A child may see the learning challenge on a device that parent configures. The app does not offer children an account.
Data stays on the device
Lock n Learn does not create an account. It does not use the internet. It does not send data to Agentic AI Labs Ltd or to anyone else. There are no ads, no analytics, no crash reports, and no advertising ID.
Uninstalling the app deletes the data it stored. Clearing the app’s storage does the same. See delete app data.
Android backup of this app is turned off, including cloud backup and device-to-device transfer of its private files.
What is stored on the phone
All of the following stays in the app’s private storage:
- The parent PIN, stored only as a salted PBKDF2 hash. The digits themselves are not saved. A 4-digit PIN is a family-trust control. Someone with root or ADB access to the phone could still try PINs.
- The chosen app’s package name and label, the time allowance, and whether protection is on.
- Today’s counts: times blocked, answers, correct answers, and parent overrides.
- The learning plan: school year, subject, practice length, number of questions, and word goal.
- An optional writing topic and a writing draft typed during a writing challenge.
- An optional NextDNS profile ID, only if a parent types one, so the app can display the Private DNS hostname.
- A flag remembering whether notification permission was already requested.
Usage access
If the parent grants Usage access, Android tells Lock n Learn which app is in the foreground and for how long. The app uses that only to time the one chosen app. It cannot see videos, messages, passwords, or anything happening inside another app. This information is not sent off the phone.
Display over other apps
If the parent allows it, Lock n Learn draws its own “Time to learn!” screen over the chosen app when time runs out. It does not read what is behind that screen. The cover names Lock n Learn and includes a Home button so the phone, emergency features, and other apps can be reached.
Accessibility service (optional)
The parent can skip this. Lock n Learn works without it. It is not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities
(isAccessibilityTool is false).
If the parent reads the separate in-app disclosure, agrees, and then turns the service on in Android settings, the service:
- reads only the package name of the app window that just came to the front, so the challenge can start a little sooner;
- can send the device to the Home screen when the chosen app is blocked;
- does not read screen text, messages, passwords, photos, or anything typed.
That package name is not sent off the phone. The parent can turn the service off in Android’s Accessibility settings. Why each permission exists is also on the permissions page.
Notifications
While protection is on, Android shows a persistent notification: “Lock n Learn is on.” It says that one chosen app is being timed and that calls and other apps stay available. This is not a hidden monitor. If the learning screen cannot open on its own, a second notification can be tapped to open it. That only happens if notification permission is allowed.
The ongoing notice is shown by a foreground service of the special-use type. Its job is to keep checking which app is in front so the parent-set time limit on the one chosen app can be applied.
Battery
The app does not request Android’s “ignore battery optimisations” permission. A parent who wants the timer to survive Doze opens Android’s battery-optimisation list and sets Lock n Learn to Unrestricted.
NextDNS
NextDNS is optional and does nothing until a parent pastes a profile ID. Lock n Learn only builds a hostname from that text and can open Android’s network settings. It does not contact NextDNS and does not upload the ID. If the parent then turns on Private DNS, filtering is done by Android and by NextDNS, under NextDNS’s own policy, not by this app.
Children’s data
Learning answers and writing drafts stay on the device. They are not published and are not shared with the developer. The parent can read them on that phone and can remove them by uninstalling the app, clearing its storage, or changing the learning plan (which starts a fresh session). The app is not directed at children as account holders, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children to send anywhere, because it does not transmit app data at all.
What this app does not do
- No account, sign-in, or cloud sync.
- No sale of data, no sharing with advertisers, no advertising ID.
- No location, camera, microphone, contacts, or SMS access.
- No reading of the contents of other apps.
- No blocking of the phone app, emergency features, Settings, or apps other than the one the parent chose.

Changes
If this policy changes, the new text will be in an app update and on this page. This policy does not allow the app to start sending data off the device.
