Support

Email [email protected]. Include the phone’s Android version, the device maker, and what you expected to happen. There is no in-app account, so we cannot look up a profile.

The app does not use the internet, so it cannot send a support log. A description in the email is enough. Privacy questions use the same address. The policy is at privacy.

Turn protection off

  1. Open Lock n Learn. If the learning cover is on screen, tap Go to the Home screen, or open the “Lock n Learn is on” notification.
  2. Enter the parent PIN.
  3. Turn protection off on the parent screen.

If you have forgotten the PIN, uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes the PIN hash. There is no PIN reset email, because the PIN never leaves the phone.

Uninstall

  1. Turn protection off, as above.
  2. If you enabled the Accessibility service: Settings, Accessibility, Lock n Learn, turn it off.
  3. Settings, Apps, Lock n Learn, Uninstall.

The app is not a device administrator and it does not hide the uninstall button. You can also revoke Usage access and Display over other apps from the same App info screen, or from the special-access lists in Settings.

Android 13 and later: restricted settings

Android can block sideloaded apps, and sometimes other apps, from turning on an Accessibility service until you allow restricted settings. If the Accessibility switch will not stay on:

  1. Open Settings, Apps, Lock n Learn.
  2. Open the menu (the three dots) and tap Allow restricted settings. Confirm with the device PIN, pattern, or biometrics.
  3. Go back to Settings, Accessibility, and turn Lock n Learn on only if you want the optional service.

You can skip this. Lock n Learn times the chosen app with Usage access and shows the cover with Display over other apps. Accessibility is optional. Read the separate disclosure in the app before you agree.

Google Play Protect

Play Protect may warn about apps that use Usage access, an overlay, or an Accessibility service. Read the warning. Lock n Learn asks for those permissions so a parent can time one chosen app and show a learning screen. It is not an accessibility tool, and the Accessibility service is off unless you turn it on after a separate in-app explanation.

Do not turn Play Protect off for the whole device in order to use this app. If Play Protect blocks an install from outside the Play listing, install from the Play listing for com.locknlearn.app instead.

The timer stops after a while

The app does not request the special “ignore battery optimisations” permission. It opens Android’s battery list so you can choose Unrestricted yourself. On some phones you also need an autostart or background-activity switch. Names differ by maker:

After a reboot, Android may start the timer again because the app listens for boot. Some of the phones above block that until autostart is allowed. While protection is on you should see the persistent notification. If that notification is missing, the timer is not running.

The learning screen does not appear
